hand of a child with family

Led by a board-certified pediatric neurologist, the Beaumont Children’s Neonatal and Neurodevelopmental Clinic is happy to welcome families and patients to our neonatal neurodevelopmental follow up clinic located within the Beaumont Neuroscience Center in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Specialized in following newborns and infants who are at an increased risk for neurological problems that could affect their development, the clinic typically treats the following conditions:

  • premature birth
  • infants who went through a hypoxic  event at birth
  • congenital brain malformations
  • neonatal seizures
  • concerns regarding the infant brain

The clinic offers a comprehensive evaluation by a pediatric neurologist and staff that is specifically trained to work with newborns and infants. The multi-disciplinary team includes a pediatric nurse navigator, pediatric physical and occupational therapists and a pediatric registered dietitian. As part of your child’s comprehensive treatment plan we:

  • conduct standardized developmental assessments to identify specific needs for every infant
  • facilitate neurodiagnostic testing of the brain as needed through electroencephalogram (EEG) and brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • collaborate with other neonatal and pediatric specialists through the Beaumont system
  • regularly follow up to address any changes in development at an early stage to assure the best outcome

If you think your infant may benefit from our clinic services, or have a question about the neonatal brain or development in general, please contact our clinic nurse navigator to assist in making an appointment.

Working with babies is our passion and we feel dedicated to help you as parents to understand your child’s condition so they can reach their best potential.
