Telehealth: Online Video Doctor Appointment

Older couple using Video Visit to speak to their Beaumont doctor

What is a Video Doctor Appointment?

Video doctor appointments are a convenient and secure way to help you receive care when you need it. Avoid the time and cost associated with an in-person visit and speak to a Beaumont doctor using a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

A Video Appointment is a scheduled appointment in which you are connected to your healthcare provider through MyChart for a live online video chat. You will be able to see, hear, and speak to your doctor, similar to Facetime or Skype.

To complete a Video Appointment with your doctor, you must have a MyChart account:

Preparing for Your Video Appointment

Video Appointments at Beaumont Health are completed using myBeaumontChart. Patients can log in on their smartphone (Apple or Android) or through a computer with video capabilities.

A smartphone or tablet is the preferred method of connection, since computers may have older web browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, etc.), will need a plug-in installed, or may not have up-to-date video capability.

  • For the best Video Visit experience, use your smartphone or tablet to connect
  • Make sure that your operating system is up-to-date (in settings)
  • Download the MyChart app from the Google or Apple App Store
  • Install the app and choose Corewell Health as your health system
  • Log in to your account using your MyChart ID and Password
  • Make sure that other apps on your phone are closed before beginning a Video Visit
  • We recommend a smartphone or tablet be used to connect to a Video Visit, but if one is not available the next best option is a laptop computer with built-in camera
  • Make sure that your internet navigator is up-to-date, we recommend using Chrome
  • Go to mychart.corewellhealth.org
  • Start the Video Visit check-in process under “Visits”
  • You will be asked to download 2 “plug-ins” and install them on your computer in order to run the Video Visit
  • Start the eCheck-in process on your phone or computer at least 5-10 minutes before your appointment
  • iPhone/iPad must be running iOS 12.0 or higher
    • Lowest compatible iPhone model: iPhone 5s
    • Lowest compatible iPad models: iPad Mini 2, iPad 5th Generation, iPad Air, iPad Pro
  • Android Phones/Tablets must be running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher
  • MyChart app must be version 9.1 or higher

We strongly recommend using the MyChart app when using Video Visit, but if that isn’t an option, they can use the web-based version with these specifications:

  • Desktop/laptop must have a webcam
  • Compatible web browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Edge
  • Users must know how to install software on their PC so they can install the Vidyo Connect software required for the appointment
  • iPhone/iPad must be running iOS 12.0 or higher
    • Lowest compatible iPhone model: iPhone 5s
    • Lowest compatible iPad model: iPad Mini 2, iPad 5th Generation, iPad Air, iPad Pro
  • iPhones must have Haiku installed version 9.1 or higher
  • iPads must have Canto installed version 9.1 or higher
  • Android devices are not compatible with the Epic Video Visits currently from the Haiku/Canto applications
