Adolescent Speech & Language Services

The Beaumont Speech and Language Pathology Department for Adolescents is designed to evaluate and treat the needs of pre-teen through young adult individuals who are experiencing communication and swallowing problems due to insufficient development, neurological injuries and environmental factors.

A clinically certified and state-licensed speech language pathologist will complete a comprehensive evaluation and develop an individualized treatment program to address the needs and goals of the adolescent and their family. Informal and formal diagnostic assessments will be used to measure expressive and receptive language skills, along with cognitive skills. Following the evaluation, results will be discussed with the adolescent and family and a home exercise program will be developed to improve carryover and follow-through of new skills learned during each treatment session.
