Breast Cancer

The American Cancer Society estimates 255,180 new diagnosed and 41,070 deaths in 2017, with more than 40,290 women dying. The good news is that the number of breast cancer survivors has been steadily increasing since the early 1990s. In fact, five-year survival rates for breast cancer patients treated by Beaumont breast cancer specialists exceed the national average.

Improved diagnostic capabilities and constantly evolving breast cancer treatments such as those offered at the Beaumont Cancer Institute hold new promise for breast cancer patients and their families.

Beaumont Health is dedicated to effectively treating women dealing with breast cancer, but we are also totally committed to generally improving overall breast health in every woman we treat. We are convinced that education and the earliest possible diagnosis are critical to the prevention and successful rehabilitation of this disease.

Women who are educated in breast health and trained in self-examination play an active and critical role in promoting their own health and minimizing effects from breast cancer through the earliest possible detection. Knowing what to look for and performing thorough self-examinations on a regular basis literally saves lives.
