Children often experience medical conditions, accidents or congenital problems that can lead to impairment of physical skills. These conditions include:

  • cerebral palsy
  • genetic disorders
  • oral motor dysfunction
  • stroke
  • traumatic brain injury
  • brain tumor
  • oral-verbal apraxia

Our program consists of physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. These disciplines work together to provide a comprehensive approach to treatment of children with special needs. This unique approach helps children in the hospital or as outpatients to achieve their maximum functional potential - physically and communicatively.

Therapy begins with an evaluation to determine the child's level of communicative functioning, and a treatment program to address the child's needs. A home program and parent education are provided to improve understanding of their child's diagnosis and prognosis, as well as to maximize the child's communicative potential.

The ultimate goal is to give each child a chance to have a normal life and to be integrated into family and school activities.
