Visiting Information

Two visitors are permitted at the bedside during the day and one visitor overnight at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital and Corewell Health Troy Hospital.

These restrictions apply only for patients 21 years of age or younger on the pediatric inpatient units and emergency centers at the mentioned hospitals, which remain open and ready to care for patients.

Support people and children are welcome to attend outpatient appointments. For imaging (e.g. X-ray, ultrasound, etc.), children are permitted in waiting rooms if the patient brings another adult to supervise them.

Patients are welcome to bring their children when picking up medications in the Beaumont Outpatient pharmacies.

ONE SUPPORT PERSON may stay with the patient until they settle into an EC room for evaluation and treatment. However, this is based on the site leader’s discretion. If unable to stay, due to facility constraints, this support person is to be provided with a phone number to call and check on the patient’s status and must return to their vehicle. Once a support person joins a patient in their room, they must stay in the room for the duration of the visit.

ONE SUPPORT PERSON may be present in the Waiting Room for the duration of the surgery, in Pre-Op (once the patient is settled) and Post-Op for discharge instructions. TWO SUPPORT PEOPLE/PARENTS/LEGAL GUARDIANS for children 21 years and under may be present.

Children may accompany adults to their outpatient appointments.

To reduce the number of unwanted germs that are taken back home, we strongly discourage personal items being brought to the hospital that are not truly necessary. If you do have items to drop off, please limit the items to one small bag of personal belongings. Do not send items of significant value, with the exception of personal phones or devices your loved one may use to communicate with you. Items should be placed in a clean bag and labeled with your loved one’s name and room number. Leave the bag with the staff manning the main entrance. The bag will be delivered to the patient room. Please make sure only healthy family members bring items to the hospital.

For your comfort, the following amenities are available:

• A blanket and pillow may be provided when requested
• 24/7 Access to vending machines on some patient units and lobbies
• Cafeteria and food courts (hours may be limited to daytime hours)
• Public restrooms are available on each unit

Employees wash or sanitize their hands each time they enter and exit a patient’s room. They also wear Personal Protection Equipment (gown, gloves, face shields, or goggles) when they enter the room of a patient with an infectious illness. Employees safely dispose of these items before going into the next patient room to keep clothing free from germs so they may safely care for other patients. Beaumont is following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and screening protocols and following infection control prevention best practices. We are also remaining in close communication with state and county public health officials to monitor the spread of the virus.

Please know that all hospitals and health systems regularly prepare for disease outbreaks, conduct regular preparedness drills, and are able to adapt quickly to infectious disease outbreaks. We are always training our staff on how to protect patients and themselves as they care for patients.

• Stay home when you are sick (fever, cough, upper respiratory infection symptoms).
• Wash your hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, especially before eating, after coughing or sneezing, and after using the bathroom.
• Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. The best way to cover your mouth and nose is to cough or sneeze into the elbow of your arm. Throw tissues away immediately and wash your hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
• Clean frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
