Davis Vandercook was born with Marfan Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects the connective tissue throughout the body, including the aorta and heart valves.
He’s a self-proclaimed “big sports guy,” so finding the right sports to participate in is important for his physical and mental health. He golfs, goes bowling and lives an overall active lifestyle with his fiancé.
It was after a night of bowling with his dad that Davis started experiencing light pressure in his chest and head. He didn’t sleep well either, so the next morning he went to the hospital for a CAT scan. He was quickly diagnosed with an aortic dissection
– a tear that occurs in the inner layer of the body's main artery (aorta).
