Beaumont Health President Dr. Benjamin Schwartz has named Nancy Susick, RN, chief operating officer for acute and post-acute services.

In this role, among her responsibilities, she will oversee Beaumont’s hospital presidents. As she takes on this position, Susick will leave her previous role of president of Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. Over the past year, Susick served as co-chief operating officer in an interim capacity. Beginning in February, she also served as interim president of Beaumont Health for five months when Beaumont Health joined with Spectrum Health to create BHSH System.


“Nancy is a well-respected leader at Beaumont and in our community. I am thrilled she will serve in this new role and I’m confident she will do a wonderful job leading our teams,” Dr. Schwartz said.

Susick added, “I am honored to help lead our teams during this time of tremendous change in health care. We have such a phenomenal group of people working every day to serve our patients and our communities.”

Debbie Guido-Allen, RN, will serve as interim president of Beaumont, Royal Oak during the internal and external search for a new president of the hospital campus.

Susick joined Beaumont as a registered nurse in 1986. Since then, she has held various leadership, staff and administrative positions at Beaumont, Royal Oak and Beaumont, Troy.

She retired with the rank of Captain from the United States Navy Reserve in 2012 after 24 years of service, having held multiple leadership positions including Commanding Officer and Executive and Training Officer. She received numerous military awards. She is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives. And, Susick also serves on the board of the Metropolitan Affairs Coalition.

Additionally, she has earned significant professional awards and recognition, including an ACHE Regents Award, Corp! Most Valuable Professional, Becker’s Hospital Review’s 130 Women to Know in Health Care, the University of Detroit Mercy Spirit Award, and Crain’s Detroit Business 100 Most Influential Women in Michigan. During her years of military service, she received numerous military awards.

Susick earned her Master of Science degree in nursing from Oakland University and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from University of Detroit Mercy.
