Band selected for Distinguished Service Award
Jeffrey D. Band, M.D., infectious disease specialist at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, has been selected to receive the Michigan Medicine Alumni Society Distinguished Service Award. The award is given to a University of Michigan graduate for outstanding contributions to the medical community. Dr. Band will receive this award Oct. 4, during the MMAS Awards.
Bohen receives the MSHPM Leadership Award
Mark Bohen, senior vice president and chief marketing and communications officer at Beaumont Health, received the Michigan Society of Healthcare Planning and Marketing Leadership Award. Bohen, the first recipient of this award, was honored for demonstrating leadership and innovation in health care marketing.
Fakih awarded the American Arab Professional of the Year Award
Lobna Fakih, M.D., pediatrician at Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn, was awarded the American Arab Professional of the Year Award at the 13th Annual American Arab Professionals Network “Celebrating Success” Banquet. The award recognizes members of the American Arab community who demonstrate leadership and success in their field. The AAPN honored Dr. Fakih, and five other American Arabs, at the banquet in May.
Gebolys receives Speak-Up! Award
Danielle Gebolys, RN, of Beaumont, Dearborn, was presented the quarterly Michigan Health & Hospital Association Keystone Center Speak-Up! Award. Gebolys received this award for speaking up about a patient’s diagnosis.
Krauss earns the Judith Stitt Best Abstract Award
Daniel Krauss, M.D., radiation oncologist at Beaumont, Royal Oak, earned the Judith Stitt Best Abstract Award for his research on brachytherapy to treat prostate cancer. The American Brachytherapy Society honored Dr. Krauss, and three other recipients, at its annual meeting June 8, in San Francisco.
Miller appointed to Michigan Board of Physical Therapy
Craig Miller, PT, clinical therapy supervisor, with Beaumont Home Health Services, was appointed to the Michigan Board of Physical Therapy by Gov. Rick Snyder. The 11-member board advises and assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs with overseeing the practice of physical therapists.
Sheridan’s ThinkFirst Beaumont selected Chapter of the Year Award
Lori Sheridan, program coordinator, Neuroscience Outreach, received the 2018 Chapter of the Year Award for Thinkfirst Beaumont. Sheridan is the director of the Beaumont, Royal Oak chapter. ThinkFirst is a national foundation dedicated to preventing brain, spinal cord and other traumatic injuries by spreading awareness of how children can be cautious of impending danger.
Wickersham recipient of ACHE’s Early Career Regent Award
Administrative fellow Bryan Wickersham of Beaumont Health has been named a recipient of the American College of Healthcare Executive’s Early Career Regent Award. Wickersham is being recognized for his leadership ability, creative management skills, innovation and community activities.
Beaumont Hospital, Troy received the AHA/ASA GOLD award
The American Heart and American Stroke Associations have honored Beaumont Hospital, Troy with the “Get with the Guidelines-Stroke GOLD Award” for their stroke treatment excellence. Beaumont Hospital, Troy is one of five Beaumont hospitals that have been designated as a Primary Stroke Center.
