Support for Bullied Children

No Bullying Live Empowered (NoBLE), a Beaumont Children's Hospital initiative, recognizes that all youth exposed to bullying are at risk for both immediate and lifelong problems. Whether someone is bullied, witnesses bullying or bullies others, it can negatively impact their physical and mental health. We provide integrated education, guidance and support for bullied children and families affected by bullying, as well as for youth and families exposed in other roles.

Baseline Concussion Testing

Many of us understand a concussion is a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that may result in a bad headache with altered levels of alertness, or even unconsciousness. But, did you know that a concussion temporarily interferes with the way your brain actually works? Concussion can affect memory, judgment, reflexes, speech, balance, coordination and even sleep patterns.

Baseline concussion testing is a pre-season exam that assesses an athlete’s balance and brain function. This includes learning and memory skills, the ability to pay attention or concentrate, how quickly he or she thinks and solve problems, as well as for the presence of any concussion symptoms. Baseline testing helps health care professionals make comparisons through post injury testing and then aides them in determining when the athlete can safely resume playing sports.
