JayJay Limbo, a clinical pharmacist at Beaumont, Wayne, attributes his positive attitude and kindness to his childhood upbringing in the Philippines.
“My family instilled the virtue of helping others,” says JayJay. “Everyone deserves kindness and respect. Those are guiding values for myself and my children.”
It’s those very values that make JayJay such an asset to his team, helping them earn a Beaumont award for exceptional care given to a patient who required a prescription upon discharge.
JayJay, along with Ihab Hamdan, Beaumont pharmacy technician, discovered the prescription was not covered by the patient’s insurance and required a prior authorization.
JayJay explains, “By working together with the patient’s physician and the pharmacy staff, Ihab and I were able to replace it with a medication that was covered by the patient’s insurance and applied a coupon to help with the copay.”
The discharge process can be stressful, so JayJay, Ihab and their team do their best to practice empathy in the daily work they do. “I picture myself in my patient’s shoes or think, ‘if this was one of my loved ones, how can they receive
the best care?’” asks JayJay.
JayJay and his team want to make the hospitalization and discharge process a positive one by making sure each patient is surrounded by people who work to understand their needs and truly care about their well-being.
“Everyone deserves empathy and the best possible care,” says JayJay. “It’s part of who I am and what our team strives for each day.”
