Emily Bauer, RN, started her nursing career in the Family Birth Center at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe in January 2020 - weeks before the world went into lockdown.
Two years and a handful of COVID surges later, Emily has already made a lasting impact on her colleagues and patients.
“Helping my patients hold their baby after delivery brings me so much joy. The process can be both scary and joyful and I’m incredibly honored to play a role in that experience,” says Emily. “I love when families leave with a smile
on their face knowing they received the best possible care throughout their stay with us."
Emily’s work ethic and professionalism are the qualities her coworkers admire most. One fellow nurse shared, “Emily cares for every family with compassion and respect and creates a positive experience by providing high standards in patient
care and safety.”
To expand her nursing knowledge, Emily also participates in the Family Birth Center Unit Practice Counsel and Breastfeeding Task Force. “Health care is a lifelong learning experience. I will always continue to seek out new ways to improve my competency
as a nurse.”
Her passion for nursing goes beyond patient care. Despite being one of the newest nurses on her unit, Emily decided to volunteer to be a preceptor for nursing students. To no surprise, Emily took on the new task enthusiastically and ensures each student
has a fulfilling, memorable experience.
While Emily’s nursing career may not have started exactly how she planned, she’s fully embraced her role in the birth center and looks forward to bringing more lives safely into the world.
