A Letter from Julie Fream

Julie Fream

It is a pleasure to assume the role of the second Chairperson for Beaumont Health’s Board of Directors. Having been a part of the Beaumont Health family since its inception, it has been wonderful to see all that has been accomplished through the collaborative efforts of physicians, leadership, our valuable employees and the community. I am honored to serve in governance for this great enterprise.

As you have recently heard, the next big step on the horizon is the creation of a new health system between Beaumont Health and Spectrum Health. As John stated in his letter, the final internal approvals occurred on Aug. 30. We await regulatory approvals, and at this time, we do not know the exact timing of this step. However, we remain optimistic the approvals will move quickly so that we can focus on best serving our communities by creating a new high-quality health care system that is For Michigan, By Michigan.

Throughout this process, I have been asked by some, why Spectrum Health? The answer is straightforward - Spectrum and Beaumont are similar organizations with shared values. We are united in a vision of shared commitment to providing the best health care to the residents of Michigan. Further, our clinical strengths complement one another. Establishing a new health system will also provide an opportunity for development of the Priority Health Plan, an insurance arm currently owned by Spectrum Health. Offering a health plan as part of the care continuum is a goal Beaumont Health has always had within its strategy.

As we move forward, please continue to be an advocate for Beaumont Health and our on-going commitment to be a leading high-value health system focused on extraordinary outcomes through education, innovation and compassion.

Your support is greatly appreciated. On behalf of the entire board, thank you for all you have done and continue to do!
