About Michael Wiater, M.D.
Dr. Wiater is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon whose practice focuses on shoulder and elbow surgery. Dr. Wiater is Vice Chairman and Chief of Shoulder Surgery, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, MI – one of the nation’s highest volume joint replacement centers. He is also Professor of Orthopedic Surgery in the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, and Program Director for the Orthopedic Surgery Residency and the Fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
Dr. Wiater conducts original scientific research, has published many peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters and has lectured internationally about numerous topics in shoulder and elbow surgery. His primary clinical and investigative interests include the outcomes and design of anatomic and reverse total shoulder arthroplasties.
